JMP Engineering Inc. of London is the London Economic Development Corp’s featured company of the month.
The technology company, dedicated to engineering automated manufacturing solutions for industry, is celebrating 15 years in business. JMP was founded in 1987 in London by John Miller and Paul Menary, two engineers who left Kellogg Canada to start their own consulting company.
Today JMP has a staff of 58 with branch offices in Windsor, Cambridge, Burlington, and Livonia, Michigan. Using a professional and systematic approach, JMP has become a leader in the field of industrial automation and controls systems.
“One of the key parts of the LEDC mandate is to focus on helping local companies expand and attract new business,” said John Kime, president and chief executive of LEDC. “By featuring stories about local companies, Londoners will learn more about some of the very fine businesses established in our community.”
Seventy per cent of the company’s customers are in the automotive sector. Food and beverage companies make up 15 per cent, while pharmaceutical companies and other consumer goods companies make up the balance. Executive Manufacturing Technologies, the makers of Visual Plant, is a spin off company from JMP.
Scott Shawyer, President of JMP Engineering, will be presented with a plaque by Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco during a Jan. 20 city council meeting.
