JMP Awarded Provisional Patent for CNC Solution
Date Posted: 7/29/2004
London, ON (July 29, 2004) - JMP Engineering's innovative CNC solution, the JMPNC, has been awarded a provisional patent in the United States of America. This solution, which replaces traditional CNC controllers with a standard Rockwell Automation ControlLogix based system, gives manufacturers an easily maintainable system while enabling traditional CNC programming style and functionality.
The JMPNC features:
· Auto, Manual, MDI and Single Block mode
· X, Y, Z axes and Spindle Control
· Part program management
· Tool wear and offset tables
· Work coordinate offset tables
· Virtual part program execution and verification
· Panelview Plus 1000 touch screen operator interface
· String entry of CNC G and M-code commands
· 3 dimensional motion profiling
JMP believes ControlLogix serves as an excellent platform for the JMPNC as it incorporates:
· Standard, readily available Rockwell Automation hardware
· CNC control and other machine control on the same platform
· G-code programming style familiar to CNC operators
· Multiple CNC controllers are available on one CLX controller
Suitable applications of the JMPNC include retrofits of obsolete CNC controllers that are expensive, not supported, or have spare parts that are hard to get, machining and material handling applications where there is a constant motion cycle, and applications where the advanced functions of a CNC controller are not required.
