Date Posted: 9/23/2007
LONDON, ON, September 23, 2007 – With changes in global market conditions, manufacturers are increasing plant automation and security. They need to submit to regular third-party audits, but who is auditing the partners they work with? The CSIA (Control System Integrators Association) and its Best Practices and Benchmarks Committee have been leading the charge setting the standards for the system integration industry. As a firm that is committed to improving industry practices for their customers, JMP is proud that their own Laurens Van Pagee has been appointed to the committee.
“With such a low cost of entry for individuals to start their own automation services business, system integration firms with a commitment for longevity and growth need to meet and support industry standards,” indicated Laurens Van Pagee, Regional Manager at JMP. “As a CSIA Certified firm, we are excited about the opportunity given to us to support the committee. For us, it is not enough to just meet the bar for our industry; we know we need to help continue to raise it.”
Working with Fortune 500 manufacturers, automation vendors, and certified system integration firms, the Best Practices Committee has developed an intensive audit process that leads to a certification that manufacturers can rely on. Recent work of the committee led to the third release of the Best Practices Manual. This release now includes a System Development Lifecycle, Supporting Activities, adjusts scope of Project Management and significantly updates Human Resource Management. Other changes include a complete refresh of the entire document for clarity, consistency and completeness including a table of contents, glossary and index.
