The Business Development Manger role at JMP is responsible for creating, sustaining and cultivating business relationships and opportunities in the Edmonton region. The role requires customer interaction as well as internal communication to establish and develop sales channels, set and meet sales targets, and adhere to the sales process.
- Drive new and current business relationships with targeted external customers across a variety of industries
- Support internal JMP employees by providing opportunities for projects, helping with the general sales process, and communicating sales channels
- Act as a spokesperson and advocate for JMP within the industry, promote JMP, and represent the company’s vision and values
Responsibilities:

Understand JMP and its Customers
- Assess customer and market needs within the Edmonton region
- Drive new and current business relationships with targeted external customers across a variety of industries
- Support internal JMP employees by providing opportunities for projects, helping with the general sales process, and communicating sales channels
- Act as a spokesperson and advocate for JMP within the industry, promote JMP, and represent the company’s vision and values

Develop Sales and Marketing Tools
- Collaborate with Marketing
- Develop sales strategies and tools
- Develop literature and presentations

Communicate to Sales Channels and People within JMP
- Identify and develop relations with distribution and partner sales people
- Conduct regular presentations at distributors, business partners, and key accounts
- Encourage communication between JMP and different stakeholders/partners
- Provide sales partners and employees with information needed to sell JMP
- Work with managers and customers to improve existing accounts
- Identify and target new accounts
- Develop account plans for new and existing accounts

Implement JMP Sales Procedures
- Prepare and assist others in quotations
- Ensure quotation standards are in use
- Ensure follow-up for all quotations
- Update resource managers with potential opportunities
- Prepare bi-weekly sales effort updates

Customer Follow-up and Satisfaction Assessments
- Perform customer project follow-ups on strategic opportunities
- Conduct regular assessment of customer satisfaction
- Administer customer satisfaction surveys
- Maintain regular contact with existing customers

Business Planning
- Participate in business planning process
- Use market knowledge to provide direction and advice to JMP
- Develop and maintain a coordinated sales plan
Required Skills:
- Has an established network of business contacts and customers
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of relevant industries
- Experience in the oil and gas industry
- Has a solid controls background and is very familiar with the types of technology used by JMP and its customers
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to create and foster strong relationships
- Motivated and passionate about working with people and overcoming challenges through collaboration and a win-win paradigm
- Strong business acumen and ability to determine long-term value
- Demonstrated leadership characteristics
- Excellent listening skills
- Able to work within and achieve business targets and is able to effectively communicate the company’s strategies
